Here you can find the free pattern for a crochet easy headband, with a twisted front that is perfect for beginners.
Some countries call this a Twisted Front Ear Warmer, but in the UK, we’d call this a headband.
This headband crochet pattern is written in both UK and USA terms.
This is a really easy beginners crochet headband, that uses super bulky yarn, making it a super quick make.

How long does it take to make a crochet headband?
This headband is really easy, it takes approximately 25 minutes to make it from start to finish. Yes you read that right, it takes me 25 minutes to make one.
If you are a beginner crocheter I’d expect you to have this finished in about an hour, but that is still a super quick crochet headband for a beginner.

What stitches do you need to know to make a crochet headband?
This is the perfect project for a beginner to make as it uses only 2 stitches.
Chain, and a Herringbone Half Double crochet, which is a modification on the Half Double crochet, which is one of the first stitches a crocheter will learn!
You need to know:
- How to chain
- How to Herringbone half double crochet (US) / Herringbone Half Treble crochet (UK)

Is this an Adult Crochet headband?
This headband is adult women sized. It’s fits a head circumference of 56cm / 22 inches.
You can make this to fit a child by reducing the number of chains at the beginning.

How do you get the twist in a crochet headband?
The twist in this crochet headband is actually really easy to make, and it’s all to do with how you fold it to sew it together.
You need to fold the ends over themselves and stitch them together.

What Yarn to use for a crochet headband?
I’ve used a Super Bulky / Super Chunky yarn – depending on where in the world you are!
In the UK, we call it Sup[er chunky yarn, but my USA friends call it Super Bulky.
I’ve used Hobbii Udon Yarn, a Super Bulky 6 weight yarn.
This is an Acrylic/ Wool mix of 80% acrylic and 20% wool, and it comes in a huge 200g ball that looks just like a big bowl of noodles!
You can purchase the exact Udon yarn here.
There are other Super Bulky yarns that will work,
WeCrochet “Mighty Stitch” (Like I used for the Tramlines cowl and wrist warmer patterns)
Cygnet Seriously Chunky That I use for loads of patterns – 40 minute beanie hat
