Hello, Thanks for stopping by. Here you can get the free crochet hat and scarf patterns I designed using Mini Bean Stitch.
This is my newest design for the lovely people over at Cygnet Yarns.
I’ll come clean, and say I’ve had this set as a WIP for a long long time!

For this design – I’ve used their Watercolour yarn.
This is a great DK weight yarn, that changes colour on it’s own (meaning only a few ends to sew in).
Rainbow Lake was the colour I chose to make the design from.
But I wanted this design to be a little different.
Stitch choice can make a huge difference, as can the yarn you use.
Using 2 different strands of yarn can give a completely different effect – that may or may not give good results
How I designed the Free Crochet Hat and Scarf patterns
So I had a little play – this will give you a little insight into how I decide what I’m making.
So this was attempt one. Normal US Double crochets and the watercolour yarn paired with a white DK.
Attempt 2, Watercolour paired with a dark grey, DC’s again.
Just watercolour yarn.
Then the top one, a lighter grey, still DC”s but you can see the colours nicely.
These were my swatches, before I even started the project.
From these I made the decision to pair the yarn with the lighter grey.
I went with a completely different stitch too! Any guesses which one?
Then I just kind of went for it!
And only 18 months after I started it – I finished it!

I love the way the yarn changes colour so gradually, so it’s mellow.
Here are a few more photos……. the outakes!
