It’s nearly Easter, and about time to try and make some happy little makes.
By this I mean quick!
I made this little guy in just a couple of hours after being inspired by a picture on Instagram of something similar in knitting. I can’t remember the name of the maker, or when it was – but I think it was a good couple of years ago (Thats how long I save ideas for!)
I don’t really knit, so here is a crochet version!
He’s super cute, and super sweet (well I think so anyway)

The Pink one instantly saw him and claimed him as her own.
“He’s a cute Bunny Wabbit and I want him”

Yarn
Lets talk yarn……. the whole point of this project was to use scrap yarn. So exactly what I’ve used might be a little vague.

I know the dark grey was King Cole Timeless. a 20% alpaca – gorgeous yarn that I designed a little dress for Simply Crochet in.
The light grey – I was gifted, so to be honest it could have been anything! Its definitely a DK weight yarn – so don’t go smaller (drops Alpaca does not work having just tried it – it’s too fine!). Ideally you’d use something like a bit “fluffy” in texture.
The exact yarn you use will determine what hook size you use. So for the Timeless I’ve used the 6mm, and the light grey I’ve used the 4mm
Pattern
6mm hook
4mm hook
King Cole timeless – stash end
Specific yarn – No idea – but use light grey DK (light worsted weight)
Abbreviations – USA Terms
Ch – chain
DC – Double crochet
FHDC – Foundation Half Double crochet
HDC – Half Double crochet
SC – Single crochet
SS – Slip Stitch
Hints and tips : Start with a long tail, as this can be used to sew the body to the head.

Head
Row 1: With the light yarn and 4 mm hook, FHDC 16, SS to join
Row 2: Ch 2, 1HDC in each, SS to join [16]
Row 3 -6 : As row 2 [16]
Sew the top of the head together by SS through both loops across the top and turn inside out. Fasten off. (Keep ends for sewing together)
Ears (Make 2)
Using the light grey yarn, Chain 9
Working in the first stitch from the hook, SC in the next 4 stitches, HDC in the next 2, dc in the next, 5 DC in the last chain, working back down the other side of the chain, DC in the next stitch, HDC in the next 2, SC in the next 4 sts.
Want a different rabbit pattern – what about these guys that fit on Cadbury Creme eggs
Arms and legs (make 4)
Make a magic loop, chain 2, 3 HDC in the loop, close the loop with a SS, and then working in a spiral (Amigurumi method), work 1 HDC in each stitch until it measures 5 cm (about 5 rounds)
Tail
Make a magic loop, chain 2, 5 HDC in the ring. SS to join., 1 HDC in each. Fasten off, weave in ends.

(Nearly there…….. lots of pieces to sew together)
Body
Now with the dark grey yarn, Chain 14, ss to join.
Round 2: Ch 3, 1DC in each SS to join [14]
Round 3: Ch 3, * FPDC, DC repeat from * to end, SS to join [14]
Round 4: Ch 3, DC in the top of the FPDC, FPDC around the DC. Fasten off, weave in ends.
To make up
Sew the ears to the top of the head. Using 1 thread from the Timeless yarn (Unply it), sew on a little face of V stitches for eyes and a cross for the nose using the picture as a guide.
Sew the dark grey body to the bottom of the head.
Stuff the arms and the legs with the tails of yarn, and sew onto the body using the picture as a guide.

Sew the tail to the back of the dark grey body.
