Animal-A-Long, C2C, Carousel, crochet

I’ve been sitting on a pretty big project for a while now. A crochet along! Who doesn’t love one of those?

My plan, and as I’ve been working on this quietly for so long, is that each week I will release a chart to make a square.

This has been a huge family project, the pink one and the blue one have helped with all of the designs, playing around in Stitch Fiddle, and thats kind of how it came about.

You’ve guessed it, It’ll be C2C, I love this technique I think you have all gathered by now. If you aren’t sure of C2C – check out my basic guide here.

In total this will run for 12 weeks, 9 squares, 1 banner at the top and the bottom, and a post on how to make it all up.

I played a little bit with yarn, and sizes before I made the decision that was right for me, but I will give you all the details on sizes to help you decide.

C2C HDC and DC

USA Terms Used

The green is made using a 4.0mm hook and Double crochet (DC). Each finished square measures 14 inches or 35cm each before the border is added.

The pink one is made with a 3.75mm hook and is made in Half double crochet (HDC), and each finished square measures 11 inches or 27.5cm.

So as a guide: the HDC will measure approximately 86cm x 110cm as a finished blanket with borders added.

The DC will be at least 110cm x 145cm.

I decided to go with HDC for my blanket, using the 3.75mm hook, and standard DK weight yarn (very common in the UK).

The great news I’ve teamed up with Snufflebean Yarn, a great UK small business who ships everywhere and does tax free shopping for anyone outside the EU.

So what else do you need to know?

The CAL will start on the 21st June 2019 (to give you time to get your yarn) – the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, meaning this should be done by the time the colder and darker nights are with us!

Each square will be released on a Friday at 4pm GMT (UK time), so your crochet weekend can start as soon as you finish work or school.
